Australia Tourist Visa Application Form Guide

The online portal for ImmiAccount is used to apply visa electronically via the Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs). This is the only way to access Home Affairs’ online visa services.

What information is needed?

Visa applicants must provide the following information:

• Personal details from their passport

• Contact/address information

• Current employment details

• Previous travel to Australia

• Adequate health insurance coverage while in Australia

• How they will be financially supported while in Australia

• Health and character declarations

• Any other countries they have lived in.

All questions should be answered honestly to maximise the chances of Visa grant and also provide all the required documents. If it is not done it it will delay the process or even cause rejection.

Important – visa lodgement:

It is better to apply early around 6-8 weeks before the plan of travelling by the applicant.

Home Affairs cannot guarantee that a visa will be processed in time for the event if there are delays in submitting an application or if an applicant fails to respond to a request for further information promptly.

Step 1 – Log into your ImmiAccount

Log into your ImmiAccount and click on ‘New application’.

Step 2 – Applying for a Visitor Visa subclass 600

Click on ‘New application’. Select ‘Visitor’ and then select ‘Visitor Visa (600)’. Before moving to the next step, accept the terms and conditions by ticking on the checkbox. After this click next.

Application Context page:

This is the first page of the online form for the Visitor Visa (subclass 600) and helps guide the rest of the form. On this page the applicant has to give important details regarding their trip to Australia. The applicant will have to tell their travel plans, dates of travel and obviously the reason behind the visit. Provide all details to proceed next.

Applicant’s information page:

Personal Details: You will need to give personal information such as your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport information, and other relevant details.

Critical data confirmation page:

The applicant needs to confirm that the entered information is correct.

Travelling companion’s page:

If traveling with another person, the applicant needs to list each person traveling with them by clicking the ‘Add’ button.

Contact information page:

The applicant needs to provide their contact details.

Authorised recipient page:

The applicant should provide details of any authorized recipient. Accompanying members of the family unit page: The applicant should list all family members who are not traveling to Australia.

Entry to Australia:

The applicant should provide details of the proposed period of stay in Australia. You should state the type of visa you are applying for (subclass 600), the reason for your visit (tourism, business, or visiting family/friends), and how long you plan to stay.

Visa applicant’s employment details in their country:

The applicant should provide details of their employment overseas.

The applicant should provide details of how they will fund their stay in Australia. You need to show that you have enough money to support yourself during your time in Australia. This could include bank statements, letters from employers, or other documents that support your financial capacity.

Business Activities:

The applicant should provide details of their proposed business activity in Australia. Applicants may provide the details of event organizers on this page, even if they are overseas event organizers – such as the International AIDS Society.

Declaration pages:

The declaration pages require a response of ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to each question. It is important to carefully read each declaration and respond according to the personal circumstances of the visa applicant. You must declare your health status and provide information about your character. It is possible that you will be required to undergo a health examination and provide character references.

Visa history:

Give details about your previous travel experiences, including any trips to Australia or other countries.

Applicants must ensure to attach the required documents. If unable to attach all documents, click on the ‘Next’ button and provide a reason on the pop-up screen for not attaching the documentation. You can now pay and submit the visa application for processing. Before you submit your application, carefully check all the information you have entered to make sure it is accurate. Once you are satisfied, submit your application.

The information is analysed by the Department of Home Affairs, so it is recommended to provide all the required documentation when submitting a visa application. It is important to check the application form and the supporting documents when applying for a visa by focusing on each detail and making sure they meet the eligibility criteria will improve the chances of a successful result. By carefully following the application process and promptly responding to any inquiries, you help make the assessment process more efficient and increase the likelihood of obtaining the visa you desire.
