    What do you need to do to get the Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (Subclass 186)?

     

    The Subclass 186 visa has three general requirements that all applicants must meet. There are also specific requirements for each application stream.

    The main requirements are:

    • Have been sponsored by an Australian business that needs their skills.
    • Are you younger than 50 years old, unless you are exempt?
    • Meet the requirements for skills, abilities, and English language, unless you are exempt.
    • With a Subclass 186 visa, you can work out your options in Australia in one of the following three ways:
    • The Stream for the Temporary Residence Transition
    • The Stream for Direct Entry
    • The Stream of Agreements
    • The Stream for the Temporary Residence Transition

    This path is for workers in Australia on a short-term Temporary Work (Skilled) Subclass 457 visa or 482. They may have worked for a long time in the same job for the same hiring company, and now that company wants to give them a stable position in the same job. The business shouldn’t depend on an operating agreement, and the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) may have held up an extensive choice under the Temporary Residence Transition Stream.

    The Stream for Direct Entry

    The Direct Entry Stream is for people who have never worked in Australia or have only worked there briefly. Temporary residents with a Subclass 457 visa who don’t meet all the requirements for the Temporary Residence Transition stream can also apply under this stream. To be eligible, should have required work experience, English requirement and a valid skills assessment in an occupation described by the Department of home Affairs.

    The Stream of Agreements

    People who have a Temporary Work (Skilled) Subclass 457 visa and an operating agreement with a business can use the Agreement Stream. To be eligible, you need to be the right age, have the right skills, and speak English well enough, as stated in the agreement.

    How do I apply for a Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme Visa?

    Step 1: Ensure you have everything you need to work in Australia.

    You need to meet the general requirements for the Subclass 186 visa AND the specific requirements for the stream you are applying under. With a Subclass 186 visa, you can work in Australia in one of the following three ways:

    • The Stream for the Temporary Residence Transition
    • The Stream for Direct Entry
    • The Stream of Agreements

    Step 2: Your employer needs to file their nomination.

    Before applying for a Subclass 186 visa, your Employer needs lodge a nomination application for you with the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA). You should send your application within six months of the approval of nomination.

    Step 3: Get your paperwork ready.

    For the Subclass 186 Visa, you need to include a few reports to show why you should be given the visa. In the Document Checklist, the messages are written down.

    Stage 4: Put in your application online

    The DHA may take a while to decide on your visa application.
