The lifestyle and job opportunities in Australia attract people, this why people from other countries want to come to Australia.

Types of Work Visas:

Under this type of visa, an Australian Employer sponsors a deserving skilled worker from any country. On the visa being granted the worker can live and work in Australia. It is necessary for the applicant to have the relevant qualifications and work experience in the job and be nominated in an eligible skilled occupation.

Temporary Skills Shortage 482 Visa:

As the name indicates this visa gives skilled workers a chance to work in Australia for up to four years if they are sponsored by an approved Australian employer. There are certain things that are important to keep in mind while applying for this visa is that the applicant should apply in a relevant field of work with relevant skills. This also increase the chance of a visa grant.

Specialty Short-Term Employment Visa (400 Series):

One can stay in Australia for around three to six months under the Subclass 400 visa. The duration granted depends on the assessing officer, whether to grant the proposed 6-month visa or the normal 3-month visa. Australia can assess your suitability for a work visa and offer guidance on the necessary paperwork, costs, and submission procedure.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Provisional 494 Visa:

This is a type of visa under which permission is granted to stay in Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. As a requirement it is important to be employed in the relevant job position located in a particular regional area of Australia. This visa also gives a chance to gain permanent residency (Subclass 191).

Employers can sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers if local workers are not found for a position. This is only possible due to the Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA). Since their is growing demand for workers everyday, this is why this agreement was introduced, which benefits both the employer and worker. But it should be kept in mind that DAMA agreement is is limited to only certain areas of Australia.

The application fee for the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482) is different and relies on

  • The period of the stay, the applicant’s country of origin
  • Similar fees apply to points-tested visas, namely the Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa and Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa. These fees also cover charges for family members.
  • The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186), this is for employer-sponsored permanent residency, also has different prices.

It depends on several factors, such as

  • The type of visa
  • The subclass
  • The circumstances of each case for an application to be considered for decision.

For instance:

How long it will take to complete an application for a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482) is different because it also depends on conditions such as whether the applicant submitted it while residing onshore or offshore (in Australia or abroad), as well as whether it is a Short-Term or Medium-Term stream and obviously on the applicant’s details.

Depending on the particular stream and the complexity of the application processing delays may apply to skilled migration visas such as the Visa Subclass 186 for Employer Nomination Scheme or the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189 for the Skilled Independent Visa.

The time taken for processing can be estimated by the applicant on the Department of Home Affairs official website.
